Airport Transfer · Varanasi (VNS)
Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport sits 25 km outside the city at Babatpur, and the drive into Varanasi is most travellers’ first hour in India. We meet you inside arrivals with a name board, at a fare agreed when you book — not quoted at a counter, not renegotiated at the car, and not raised because your flight came in at 1am.
The problem
Varanasi is, for a lot of people, their first hour in India — and the airport road is where that hour is usually spoiled. Six things go wrong, and all six are avoidable.
What happens: a number agreed at the kerb becomes a different number at your hotel, once you have no leverage and no alternative.
With us: paid online before you fly. Nothing is collected in the car.
What happens: you land, walk out, and start looking for a stranger among thirty identical white cars, phone roaming not yet working.
With us: your driver stands inside arrivals with your name on a board. You get his name, number and vehicle number the day before.
What happens: the booking lapses, or waiting time is charged, or the driver has taken another fare.
With us: we track the flight number. Land three hours late and the car is simply there three hours later, at no extra cost.
What happens: a stop at a silk emporium or a “better hotel” that pays the driver a commission, on your time.
With us: the driver is already paid and employed by us. There is nothing in it for him but taking you where you asked.
What happens: the car stops where the lane narrows, points vaguely, and drives off. You are somewhere in the old city at 1am with luggage.
With us: you know the exact drop point before booking, and the driver walks in with your bags.
What happens: a night charge you were never told about, produced at the moment you are least able to argue.
With us: ₹350 between 9pm and 5am, shown on screen before you pay. That is the only surcharge that exists.
What it costs
One number, agreed before you fly, covering the whole journey from the terminal door to wherever you are staying.
| Vehicle | Best for | One way |
|---|---|---|
| Sedan | 1–4 passengers, up to 2 large bags | ₹1,299 |
| SUV | 4 passengers with 3–4 bags, or extra room | ₹1,699 |
| Night charge | Per transfer, 9:00pm–5:00am | +₹350 |
Booking both directions is simply two transfers, and you can set that in the panel opposite. If you are booking a Darshan, Kashi or Kin package, airport pickup and drop-off are already included — do not pay for them twice.
Distances & timings
Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport (IATA: VNS) is at Babatpur, northwest of the city on the Varanasi–Jaunpur road. Everything below is by road, in normal traffic.
| From VNS airport to | Distance | Typical drive |
|---|---|---|
| Varanasi Cantt railway station | ~21–24 km | 35–50 min |
| Dashashwamedh Ghat (Godowlia) | ~25 km | 40–55 min |
| Kashi Vishwanath Temple | ~25–26 km | 40–55 min |
| Assi Ghat | ~29 km | 45–60 min |
| Sarnath | ~24–30 km | 45–60 min |
Two things stretch these times more than distance does: the Godowlia and Chowk approaches in the evening, and festival weeks — Dev Deepawali, Mahashivratri and Sawan Mondays — when parts of the old city close to traffic entirely. If your dates fall in one of those, we plan the route and the drop point around it rather than discovering it on the day.
On arrival
Inside the arrivals hall, holding a board with your name. Not calling you from the car park, and not asking you to walk out and find a white car among thirty white cars.
Where we go
There are no zones and no area surcharge. The fare is the same whether you are staying two minutes from Dashashwamedh or forty minutes out towards Sarnath.
The only limit is physical rather than commercial. A handful of lanes inside the old city are too narrow for any vehicle, so the car stops at the closest reachable point and the driver walks in with your bags. We tell you exactly where that will be when you book, so nobody discovers it at midnight with a suitcase.
Honestly
Sometimes, yes — and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
The prepaid counter is fine if you are landing in daylight, you have travelled in India before, you speak some Hindi, and you are staying somewhere a car can actually reach. It is a regulated desk, the fare is written down, and it works.
Booking ahead is worth it if you are landing after dark, it is your first time in India, you are travelling with parents or small children, you have real luggage, or you are staying inside the old city where the car stops several minutes’ walk from the door and somebody needs to know exactly which lane.
The difference is not really the car. It is whether somebody is expecting you by name, whether the number was agreed before you were tired, and whether anyone is responsible if the plan changes at 1am.
Departures
The drive out is the same 25 km, but the risk is different — a missed flight costs considerably more than a taxi.
We confirm the pickup time against your flight rather than leaving you to guess it, and the driver reaches your stay ahead of the agreed time, not on it.
Six recur: a fare agreed at the kerb that changes on arrival; nobody meeting you by name, leaving you to find a car among many; a booking that lapses or charges waiting time when your flight is delayed; a commission detour to a silk shop or a different hotel; being dropped short of your stay with luggage and no directions; and an undisclosed night surcharge produced at the end of the journey. Booking a fixed-price transfer in advance, met inside arrivals with the flight tracked, removes all six.
With Kashi & Kin a one-way transfer is a fixed ₹1,299 in a sedan or ₹1,699 in an SUV, for up to 4 passengers, agreed when you book and unchanged on arrival. A ₹350 night charge applies between 9:00pm and 5:00am. Prepaid counters at the airport typically run ₹899 to ₹1,500 depending on vehicle, quoted at the desk rather than before you fly.
VNS is at Babatpur, roughly 25 km from Dashashwamedh Ghat and Kashi Vishwanath and about 29 km from Assi Ghat. Allow 40 to 55 minutes in normal traffic, up to an hour in the evening or during festival weeks.
Inside the arrivals hall, holding a board with your name — not in the car park and not by phone from outside. Your driver’s name and number reach you the day before, and we track your flight, so a delayed landing does not cost you the car.
Anywhere in the city — your hotel or homestay, Cantt or Banaras railway station, Sarnath, BHU, Ramnagar, Bhelupur, Lanka, the Cantonment, or a ghat. No zone limits and no surcharge by area. The one exception is physical, not commercial: a few old-city lanes are too narrow for any car, so the vehicle stops at the nearest point it can reach — usually a 5 to 15 minute walk — and the driver helps with your bags. You are told that drop point before you book, not at the door.
Yes — ₹350 per transfer between 9:00pm and 5:00am, shown on the booking before you pay rather than added at the car. It applies per transfer, so a late arrival and an early-morning departure are each surcharged.
Either works. The prepaid counter is fine in daylight if you have travelled in India before. Booking ahead matters most for late-night arrivals, first visits, families with luggage, and anyone staying inside the old city where the car cannot reach the door.
Three hours before an international departure, two and a half before a domestic one. The airport is 25 km out and the Godowlia and Cantt stretches are unpredictable between 5pm and 8pm and during festival weeks.
No. We track your flight number, so if you land late the driver is there later. No waiting charge, no expiry. The only surcharge is the ₹350 night charge between 9:00pm and 5:00am.
Both vehicles seat up to 4. The sedan comfortably takes two large suitcases; the SUV suits four travellers with four bags, or anyone arriving with instrument cases, ritual items or a wheelchair.
Yes. Airport or railway station pickup and drop-off is already included in the Darshan, Kashi and Kin packages, so there is no need to book it separately.
That is genuinely all we need to start. We will confirm the pickup time, the vehicle, and the exact spot your driver will be standing.
